What is the referrer?

It simply is the URL of the site that sent you the traffic. We can use
this bit of information to target certain traffic sources and redirect
their traffic appropriately. When traffic is coming from Google, the
keywords a user searched to find your site can be detected in this
referrering URL. We can use this bit of information to treat certain
keyword searches specially, and redirect the traffic appropriately.

Why would I redirect?

That's up to you! If you notice that you can better serve your traffic,
arriving from a specific keyword search, to a better location; then
this feature will help you to do it!

What about standard redirections?

Sometimes we will just want to redirect a navigation menu page item to
an external site, or even a post. With WP Traffic Tools we can still do
simple redirections. For me personally, this tool has replaced the need
for the plugin `Page links to'.

What is Cookie Stuffing?

Cookie stuffing is the loading of a cookie, typically orginating from
an external site, into the users browser when the user did not actually
visit that site.

Why is cookie stuffing used?
A couple of ways: there is the Whitehat method of cookie stuffing, the
Greyhat, and the Blackhat.

The white hat consists of agreeing with an affiliate provider that you
will use cookie stuffing along-side of a product review or ad placement
to ensure that the visitor is associated with your promotional efforts
regardless of whether or not the user clicks the advertisement link to
the external site that will set the cookie. This will allow for the
promotion to take affect no matter what, and if the visitor buys a
product in the future through a different link or Google search then
you will still gain a commission for the sale.

The Grey Hat method is the application of the exact same concept,
except the advertiser does not ask for permission before hand because
the practice of cookie stuffing is against the affiliate program's
terms of service.

The Black Hat method is stuffing a cookie for a service such as Amazon
without providing any promotional material at all in hopes of the
chance that that visitor might purchase products from Amazon the same
day (Amazon cookies only last 24 hours). This is the darkest
application of this feature, and don't kid yourself... it's stealing.
This method is can even be applied on sites that the stuffer does not
own, including public forums, blog comments, and hot-linked images.

What is a popunder?
Popunders are popups that, once popped, immediately moved itself to the

popup, substituting the normal browser based popup that can be annoying
and blockable.
What is an unblockable popup?
An unblockable popup circumvents the browsers internal popup prevention
service, which asks the user to permit a popup before it fires. We use
scripting techniques to get around this if we choose. There is a catch
though. It requires the user to make a click action before the popup is
fired. This tells the browser that the user's click has requested the
open-page action and therefore does not consider the the result to be a
popup, and rather considers it to be asked for.

Heads up: There's an ongoing spamdexing of Google searchbot algorithms. Sites that are 'copies of copies' and cloaked sites which include Zorgium keywords presented to search engine crawlers yet garbage content presented to human visitors were hosted on thousands of IP addresses and domains registered immediately after the introduction of Zorgium in November of 2009. The Hostgator/'The Planet'/Softlayer datacenters in Texas seem to be the epicenter of this activity in conjunction with anonymously registered domains of various TLD's but primarily .info domains at Godaddy which, in our opinion, has some sort of connection to the domains of goldmint.in and goldmint.org. Google has begun to notice this and has begun to lower the ranking of these sites and put our original sites back on top of the search rankings. These actions, as far as we can tell, negatively impact the use of the keyword 'zorgium' as a search term and provided little benefit, if any, to the perpetrators.

ZORGIUM note to content providers: If you don't want your page to appear in Zorgium's search abstraction then put an exclusion for "Zorgium" in your web server's robots.txt file.
